from brianna…
for as long as I can remember, I have moved my body. I have always been able to see and feel, the biomechanics taking place around and through me. I grew up watching my dad and brothers play semi-professional and professional basketball and I played a lot of sports too. I danced, I sung, and I competed division 1 in college. athleticism and rhythm has always come naturally to me and that lead to my decision to major in exercise science.
after graduating from hofstra university in 2016, I assisted seven physical therapists over the course of four years - one specialized in neurological physical therapy, two others in aqua and concussion therapies, and four in sport orthopedics, one of which had worked with the los angeles dodgers and san francisco giants for the majority of his career. the culmination of their backgrounds and expertise gave me a vast assortment of approaches, modalities, and the most efficient return to movement protocols.
as my experience grew, so did my superpower. I felt, saw, the optimal angles and was able to cue optimal coordination and force output with breath, neuromuscular activation, and movement, leading those I worked with to successful rehabilitation.
by 2019 I had burnt myself out of pt clinics, corporate wellness and fitness gyms. however my passion for the study of movement prevailed. the brief section in my yoga teacher training certification brought pregnant and postpartum strength to my attention and it finally occurred to me that no one in my degree, nor anyone in my post undergrad study had ever mentioned this! the decision to pivot, leave my corporate wellness position, and let physical therapy school go, became so obvious.
coaching was even more natural as a pregnancy postpartum exercise specialist. I felt most aligned educating and providing the tools necessary to perform, birth, live and recover better. when I began teaching other coaches my techniques, our most power tool revealed itself to me. coherency of breath allows us to manage all pressure. the better you manage pressure, the lower your risk of injury, dysfunction and pain of both mind and body. breath coherency brings forth coherency of mind, movement, and overall well being. stressing less is how you increase recovery, growth, strength and longevity!
